Lola Oladunjoye is the creative force behind Lola Fenhirst, which she founded in 2015. Born and raised in London to Nigerian parents who had emigrated to Britain to pursue their studies, Lola grew up in a vibrant, multi-cultural environment which would go on to inform her Afro-modernist design sensibility. Instantly recognizable for its striking sculptural aesthetic, Lola’s work draws on her dual Anglo-Nigerian heritage to create wearable art that blends traditional African adornment motifs with the best in European and Asian jewellery-making savoir-faire.
To date, Lola Fenhirst has released three interconnected editions, PIT, SYBIL and BEADED. These works function as a continuum in an open dialogue between past and present, exploring different aspects of West African culture and identity.
Lola comes to jewellery design as a second career, having spent two decades practicing technology law in California’s Silicon Valley. Lola is also a writer, whose essays exploring complex issues such as family heritage and identity have been published by British Vogue.
Within a short time, Lola Fenhirst has become the red-carpet jewellery of choice for Hollywood stars such as Halle Berry, Angela Bassett, Kelly Rowland, Michaela Coel, Keke Palmer, Emily Blunt, Laverne Cox and Uzo Aduba, to name just a few.
